Lowered vehicles look great, but changes in suspension can also create “bump steer.” Baer Tracker Tie Rods effectively eliminate bump steer and are a real solution to a common problem with altered suspensions.

Bump steer happens when the suspension is compressed, often while cornering, and a dip, rise, pothole, or other road surface change is encountered. This road irregularity demands further suspension movement that exceeds the range of movement (articulation) of a standard tie rod end. In these situations, the tie rod actually restricts the movement of the steering arm, which causes an immediate, nasty, and often scary change in toe (steering direction). At best this is an unpleasant handling quirk, and at worst it can be dangerous. More than a few enthusiasts have found themselves “backing off” at speed as a direct result of bump steer.

Baer’s pin height adjustable Tracker Tie Rod Ends allow enthusiasts to compensate for ride height and suspension geometry changes. They allow a full range of articulation so the tie rod ends can be made to track in the same arc of range (movement) as the steering arms. Adjustments are made by simply moving the provided steel adjustment shims to either side of the spherical bearing (rod end).
